| Bio: | ![]() Full Name: Daphne Cassandra Greengrass Nicknames: Ducky, D.C. Birth Date and Age: May 5, 1980, 27 Blood Line: Pureblood Place of Education: Hogwarts House: Slytherin Years Attended: 1991-1998 Wand: 12.5" Yew, Dragon Heartstring Sexual Orientation: Straight Home: A flat in Central London. Occupation: Currently running the large Greengrass corporation for her parents, who are both interested in full retirement. Her job requires her collaboration with accountants, several Apothecary managers and Greenhouse Herbologists. She’s a typical business witch with a brain for networking. Pet(s) if any: Doberman Pinchers, two. Eos and Helios. Both tend to seem menacing but are all show and tend to be barking out of a playful manner more than a “I will murder you” manner. Eos, the female, tends to jump a lot and Helios, her brother, is a much more subdued companion. Personality: You can’t find one single description of Daphne from a crowd of people. There will always be, more than likely, at least four different views on the Greengrass oldest. She’s a leader. She’s a manipulator. She’s a caring soul. She’s a Slytherin. All four are as true as ever, neither really outdoing the other in the eyes of most people. They know she was a Slytherin, it’s common knowledge that she has the pride of the snake. It’s in the glint of green in the emerald ring she wears on her ring finger. She’s not at all ashamed of this House and it’s course in history. “Tell me about your house,” she might say, and don’t worry about when you stumble to think of a good answer. She’s used to the stumbling and inability to speak without stuttering. She’s been a champion of speech since she could talk and has the grace to deal with those lacking an ability to speak as well as she. ”Tell me about your house and it’s history. Remember that not every Gryffindor lived up to their noble name. Not every Hufflepuff could claim to be as loyal as others. Not every Ravenclaw was smart enough to choose the good path. Not every Slytherin aches to persecute the different folk of this world.” She’s right, you know. She’s wasn’t always a leader. Not many recall her leading a pack of Slytherin girls in the ritual of hazing first years. That’s because she never did join those girls. She was the odd one out, the one who held her tongue and watched the other girls do their worst to fit in with the so called best. You see, even if she was considered part of that lot of nasty Slytherin girls, she is a caring soul as well. Not that it outdid the ambition or the desire to keep her wealth and good name. She simply saw reason like a Ravenclaw and could’ve easily been a Ravenclaw like her mother for that very reason. You see, Daphne thought of the future in terms of years. She knew that while it was wise to seem part of que who thought Pureblood the better blood, it was wiser to realize that this was not the majority of thought. This was a thought held dear to her entire family. Apollo Greengrass made sure she thought that way because he knew there would be a day when the reign of the Dark Lord would really be gone for good. What would their family do then? End up desperate for forgiveness like others would be? No. They’d survive, be better off, be the new leaders of the Aritocracy. She wasn’t always a leader, but she would be soon, and Apollo knew it. So Daphne didn’t say rotten things, she didn’t actively reach out to the muggleborns either. She sat pretty in the neutrality that was a tight lip and waited until all was clear. Waited for her father to make amends by openly turning in fellow death eaters the moment the Dark Lord ceased to be. Waited for her father to make everything right and then she sprang into the magical society like a tiger who was ready to make their kill. She became the manipulator, though most don’t seem to mind because she does what she must for the sake of others. They say she isn’t really a believer in equality, but she tolerates muggleborns as equals because she does know they are worth something. They are workers and customers and she’ll do anything to keep both, to keep her money, to keep her name, to keep her role as the leading socialite and executive in a world of purebloods drowning in their sick histories. Daphne is not without flaw, to be sure. She sometimes finds herself getting to emotional, finds her self growing distant to keep her self out of harms way, finds herself becoming obsessed over small details because she aches to do her father right. She’s not easily courted and finds it hard to make real friends as she finds her priorities are in keeping her money and status. Appearance: Daphne always looks amazing, as if being dressed by a personal stylist for every event. She is actually pretty familiar with a fair few owners of Wardrobe Shops and manages to get the finest robes and accessories before most Witches she knows. Her naturally hair color is a dirty blonde which she doesn’t bother dying with charms as she finds cleansing spells and shampoo potions from the latest designers do the trick in giving her an excellent head of hair. The length varies, but mostly it is kept at her shoulders and in loose curls. Her makeup is conservative unless called to be more dramatic for certain events. Casual wear means nice khakis or designer jeans with a blouse while work attire is usually a skirt and blouse or a suit under her robes. She doesn’t wear much jewelry and finds silver to be the best for rings and earrings she might wear. Daphne hardly wears sneakers and has always managed in high heels. PB: Evan Rachel Wood History: Born to Cassandra and Apollo Greengrass, Daphne is the first born of two, her younger sister being Astoria, respectively. As a child she was brought up in a household that wasn’t lacking love but rather, flourishing in it. Her mother, a former Ravenclaw, was in love with books and history and often felt compelled to read to her daughters every night as much as she could. Her father, Apollo, a former Slytherin, was and still is a boisterous man who always caved to his daughter’s wishes. In the business world though, he was somewhat ruthless. While he built up their wealth through owning Greenhouses and Apothecaries that would sell the Herbology ingredients they made, he was also good about making friends in the right places. A few friends were Deatheaters and eventually Apollo was initiated and while he didn’t exactly believe in the regiment of the Dark Lord, he went with it without question for the safety of his family. There were even times when his morals caused him to do something stupid and he would be tortured and threatened with promises to kill his family if he betrayed the Dark Lord, but because he supplied so much money for the Dark Lord’s efforts, Apollo was forgiven usually. After the first dissapearance of the Dark Lord, Apollo returned to normal. He continued networking and building up wealth and made sure his daughters understood how he worked so they could take over someday. Daphne was taught that while Purebloods were typically the better of classes, that didn’t mean muggleborns were useless or that they should even be considered lower than dirt. It was a fine line she was taught to understand about Pureblood Superiority. During school she was one of the more benevolent of Slytherins, often seeming more interested in her schoolwork than her classmates. She excelled in all classes, though obviously she was best at Herbology, with a natural green thumb, and tended to exceed in Potions, Charms, and History of Magic. When the Dark Lord returned for good, Apollo was quick to return to supporting the Wizard as best he could for his family’s sake, but the week after his downfall he was even quicker to supply aurors with all information he could gather about his and other’s work in the circle of Death Eaters. This led the Greengrass family to be looked down upon from the Purebloods Apollo ratted out, but it didn’t matter because the rest of the society thought them to be innocents and actually good people. Their corporation took off and is now looked upon by the world of magical societies as a frontrunner in international wizarding businesses. At twenty Seven, Daphne’s been running good portion of the company for nearly seven years. Her parents have since retired and she and her sister keep the business afloat. Political alliance, and reason for this choice: Neutral, those most consider her to lean toward a pro-muggleborn side and she tends to be the lone pureblood supporter. She does this for the sake of her thriving business as most of muggleborns are her customers in some way or form. Anything else we should know about the character? She is addicted to candy. She always has Droobles on her person at all times and while for a couple of years she did smoke, she fights the urge with lollipops and chocolate frogs. | |||||||||
